SYNERGEN Health Celebrates International Women’s Day at Newly Opened Lounge in Sri Lanka Offices

Prominent Sri Lankan businesswoman, Ashcharya Peiris Jayakody commemorates event with inspirational keynote

Womens DayDALLAS – March 9, 2020 – SYNERGEN Health, a leader in technology and data-driven revenue cycle optimization solutions for health care organizations, announces its commemoration of International Women’s Day 2020 at the SYNERGEN Health offices in Sri Lanka. As a globally recognized day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, the company finds it imperative to recognize the empowering meaning behind the holiday.

Ashcharya Peiris Jayakody, Sri Lanka’s first visually impaired fashion designer, attended the celebration to speak with employees about her inspiring journey. After losing her eyesight in a suicide bomb blast in 2000 and persisting to reach great professional heights, Jayakody was the first Sri Lankan woman to be included among BBC’s 100 most inspiring and influential women for 2019.

“The experiences and triumphs that Ashcharya shared with our team encouraged our female employees to achieve their personal and professional goals despite adversities,” said Pramila Rajapakse, AGM Human Resources and Talent Management, SYNERGEN Health. “We were thrilled to have such a prominent female voice join our company-wide observance of this important day.”

Although significant strides have been made across the globe, the 2020 Global Gender Gap Report revealed that gender parity will not be attained for almost another century. The fact of the matter is that legal restrictions have kept 2.7 billion women from accessing the same jobs as men, less than 25% of parliamentarians have been women as of 2019, and one in three women still experience gender-based violence today.

“We took this opportunity to appreciate and celebrate the lives and determination of women who work tirelessly for the success of our clients and organization, as well as for the betterment of society,” said Surinda Gunawardena, Managing Director, SYNERGEN Health. “The world has made unprecedented advances in reaching true gender equality, but no country has achieved it in its entirety. We believe in making that a big part of our mission.”

To play a role in the global call for progress, SYNERGEN Health actively promotes gender equality, with females making up 54% of its workforce – including holding various management and leadership roles – and has been consistently ranked among the Top 25 Best Places to Work list.
